I am basically starting off from where my seniors left their projectlast year. At the moment I have a 6 channel RC helicopter with GPS andGyro modules attached to it. My target is to design/develop a remotemobile station for the control of this UAV. The mobile base stationwould be in turn controlled by a user in a remote place. My questionstherefore are:
1) Is the Ardupilot kit, an investment relevant to my project target? If yes then kindly clarify
2)Will the board be compatible to the components added on the board by my seniors i.e GPS and Gyro modules?

I am wondering if you know how difficult it is to control a 6 channel RC helicopter? If you are truly talking about a 6 channel, single main rotor, cyclic/collective pitch helicopter, then controlling it, for either an autopilot or a user, is not a trivial matter.
If it will be manually controlled by a user then control latency can be a serious issue.
If it will either operate autonomously, or in a stabilized mode then please recognize that inexpensive autopilots capable of that task are on the "bleeding edge" of new technology. Our ArduPilotMega hardware may be able to do it in a few months when out firmware for single rotor helicopters is further along.
