Joystick for APM2.5 (Urgent)

Hi Guys,

I use a Logitech USB joystick to connect my APM (with Xtend900 radio and windows 7). then switch on the joystick function, the servos can work, but after several seconds, the servos are freezed. it seems large data workload for APM, what can I do? Any insight you have into helping me is appreciated. thanks so much!

what data rate do you have your radios set at?

    • You mean 'Expo' value? I have tried the maximum and minimum exponential control for these two RC channels, Same.

Btw, if it was caused by servo's power, why does it can work within seconds? anyway, I will test it. thanks so much!

        no.

how fast can that data flow between the two radios.

        • Currently, it was set 57,600bps (the Xtend can be set from 9,600 to 115,200).

I noticed the xtend signal was reduced from 100% to 60% when I enabled the joystick, if I kept moving the joystick, the xtend signal would be lost.

  • UAV: Xtend900 -> APM2.5 -> servos, and the servos(2x 5g) are powered by APM directly because the power is very small. (Some guys told me: they met the same problem on Xbee or 433 radio), does it caused by the power? I will test it ...

It is not recommended to power servo's from the APM, some servo's can draw 1A each under load. You can check by looking at Vcc in the log, it must stay around 5V.

Servo's must be powered separately otherwise you will have brownout.

I have no problem with 433 radios

      • just try the separately power, same problem.

and I noticed the xtend signal was reduced from 100% to 60% when I enabled the joystick, if I kept moving the joystick, the xtend signal would be lost. I have tried under '0-50 Expro'.

  • it seems caused by the radio buffer data accumulation (same problem on Xtend900/Xbee/433), is there anyone provide help to me? thanks!
