Keeping constant yaw throughout automatic mission

Hello,

I'm using Mission Planner to create a survey mission with the Survey (Grid) tool. How can I ensure that the yaw is kept constantly pointing in one direction (e.g. north) for the whole mission?

I'm using Mission Planner v1.3.38 and APM: Copter solo 2.0.20 firmware.

Any help would be much appreciated. I couldn't find a definitive answer from this discussion - http://diydrones.com/forum/topics/yaw-orientation-during-mission

Thanks

  • First off I don't have a Solo so don't know how it will effect this.

Simple mode is only for using the sticks to control the copter and how it is oriented to you. It makes moving it around without having to worry about what direction the copter is facing to control it.

What you want is to fly a mission and have all the pictures in the same direction so they line up in the same orientation.

To do that you need to set this parameter in mission planner: http://ardupilot.org/copter/docs/parameters.html#wp-yaw-behavior-ya...

By default this parameter is set to 2. You want to set it to 0. Then whatever orientation you have on the copter it will keep throughout the mission.

You can also use yaw commands to change the yaw and have it stay there.
