Prop wash creates noticeable ground turbulence, at least for my quad. Launching slowly and driving to navigate the quad through this turbulence can make for difficult handling. I launch in stabilize mode. I do not slowly bring the throttle up but rather increase throttle to about the 50~60% mark pretty quickly. I wouldn't say the quad "leaps" into the air, but it gains the first 6 feet of altitude pretty darn fast. Makes for a nice smooth lift off, in my opinion.
