Long Duration Hex

We just completed the maiden flight of our 3DR hex.  We're trying to optimize flight time, hence the large quantity of batteries.  Here are our basic specs:

880kV Motors

12x3.8 SlowFly Props

APM 2.5 w/uBlox GPS

AttoPilot 180A voltage/current sensor

FTS system (using 2 DIYDrones Mux boards to disconnect APM and kill motors)

3DR 900MHz Radio

Spektrum 6 Channel Receiver

6 6000mAh LiPos (36Ah!)

At hover we're consuming 47A, which means we could hover for around 37 minutes (landing with 20% battery life left).

  • what brand of batteries are you using ?

  • Distributor

Is this theoretical values or tested? I find it really heavy and pretty sure you cannot get 37 minutes...
