Hello guys I'm looking to build a rover out of a traxxas e max Is there a way to make it go from any where between 1,000 feet to 1 mile, I,m thinking about putting a real time GPS and wireless camera with zoom.I wanna be able to scope out the deer hunter that come on our land that does illegal poaching with the cam I can take there pic and send it right to the gang warden and the location from the GPS that the rover gives me. I would like to make one in the PIC but that would probably cost me a lot money.

i have one of the boards / software and it is impressive what it is capable of ,and while it is closed source he updates it frequently with more and better capability`s
You might want to check out Steve Norris' "CoolerBot" : http://www.norrislabs.com/ It might give you some ideas to play around with.
He is using it for backyard surveillance.
The CoolerBot is controlled by a short range 912 MHz transreceiver system, but could be replaced by a 900 MHz Xbee Pro that can get you a mile or better depending on conditions.
I presently have a four wheel skid steering rover that uses the big 7 inch tires and can go just about anywhere though not really fast.

I think it would be a lot easier, and cheaper, to just figure out when he comes, and take a picture with a telephoto camera. With the truck, you'd need to have to make it rugged enough to traverse the terrain, and smart enough to look for a single person.
My person opinion for dealing with the poacher... put up signs on your property saying "live firing range. keep out." And if you see him doing any poaching, let off a few rounds to scare him off... the closer you shoot to him, the longer he'll stay away ;)
