I am looking to contract some one who has knowledge about quadcopters, mission control software, autopilots etc. I just really need some one who can help me out with sorting through all that I need for a commercial type of drone. Email me with what you know and lets discuss payment, availability etc.

I'm sure there's quite a few on this site that will offer advice for free. What is your objective for the drone?

    • Hi, thanks for the response

I am looking for the following.

1: initially any quad that has a payload capacity of  a pound ish.

afterwards a much larger quad upwards of 10-20 lbs payload

2:flight software (autopilot?)  for a PC that I can easily import waypoints and have the quad fly to theses waypoints where I can have some options as to what it does at these waypoint. IE: hover and wait for a command input from me or lower to a specific height hover for a period of time. I just want options.

3: Camera onboard, possibly infrared addition.

4:can I get open source software where I can add options and features for my specific uses? Is there software that I can plan my missions in 3D with some sort of accuracy? can I have options as to what format to import waypoints?

5: is there any way of getting very accurate height above ground info for quads? such as radar altimeter or something that will tell me accurately how far off the ground I am? not just GPS altitude....

6: a way so that I can possibly unload a payload at a waypoint.

7: all of these things I would like to be modular to some degree so I can put all of this onto a much larger quad.

I have more requirements but not needed for proof of concept at this time.

such as parachute, a way to find a downed drone, object collision avoidance (radar?). probably some fail safes that I haven't even thought of.  maybe somebody has more ideas?

        No replies yet, odd.

APM:Copter should be able to do what you require but it does need a learned skill set to operate successfully. And once you get to 10-20 lbs payload you'll need some serious hardware coupled with lots of skill and care.

Mission Planner can plan 3D missions very well, "unloading" payloads is possible (see my blog on automated parachute drop) but is illegal in many countries as it could also be called "bombing".

There are radar and sonar altimeters which have cm or less precision so no problem there. Barometer altitude (currently used on APM:Copter) is accurate to 30-50cm.

Failsafes are there, downed position report is there, emergency parachute is there, object collision avoidance is still a baby but growing fast.

Have a look through the wiki starting here: http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/introduction/
