Marine Calibration

Just curious whether anyone has experience calibrating on a small boat and any issues incurred, when I say small I mean 30ft or less. I am aware off the issues calibrating other flight controllers on marine vessels and areas of vibration so would be interesting to see how the apm fares up. I have a 21ft RIB which id like to fly from and also access to larger boats.

  • I've certainly armed and flown from a 45ft catamaran (trampolines make a useful landing pad!). I've been able to fly even if the gyros did not converge. You'll get more error on the gyro init as your vessel gets smaller, unless its particularly calm with no swell. It will still fly, but I'm not sure how bad the effect can get if the gyro is moving a lot whilst its trying to average...

I may be trying to fly off a rib later this week - will let you know if I get that brave!
