If I wanted to move the radio away from the APM2 (mounted onto a wing, for example), are there any limitations on the wiring distance between the radio and APM2?

I hate to dredge up an old thread here, but it is related to the question I have. And I was amused to find it as the very last thread after looking at 26 pages.
Anyway...
I'm working on an indoor GS for a rover using the 3DR 915 MHz telemetry system. It should play nice with the 433 MHz DL and 1258 MHz vTx. If not I will try to resolve any issues with LP, HP or notch filters.
I want to mount the 915 MHz telemetry module outside in a weatherproof enclosure. For that reason I've ordered a second "air" module. I will have to use an 80' run of CAT6e cable to connect it to the 3DR FTDI cable at the computer end. In this CAT6e cable, each twisted pair is shielded, and then there is an overall shield.
Is this a bridge too far? I'm familiar with voltage drop calculations but how will this length affect the TX and RX data before it reaches the FTDI?
I don't think you'd have any problem with this. There will be some limit based on the serial baudrate, and another limit based on the voltage loss on the cable, but I doubt you'd reach those limits with any reasonably sized plane. You'll need to ask an electronics expert like Mike what those limits are though - I'm more of a software guy :-)
