MediaTek NMEA Settings

I have been trying to change my MediaTek GPS to NMEA w 38500 baud settings.  It has the DIY protocol in it right now.  I can update the firmware with the DIY protocol no problem but I believe I am missing the NMEA file when I download it from the wiki.  Any help is appreciated!!

  • Huh?

    Missing NMEA file?

    Change to NMEA?

    Update with the DIY protocol?

The firmware will output NMEA by default, or the custom, binary, protocol when commanded to.

If you are using the ArduXYZ (XYZ=copter, pilot, etc.) software it will command the unit into binary when it starts up. If you hope for NMEA, you must make changes to the ArduXYZ code so that this does not happen.

If you are writing your own software, then simply don't tell the unit to go into binary. As I wrote, the default is NMEA. And the data rate is 38,400. Not 38,500.
