I am a fashion photographer and my son has been interested in helicopters for a while .. and with business being really slow right now I was trying to re-invent what I do. I got hooked a few months ago on the octocopters/mikrokopters .. and now want to try to do aerial photography and video. I am trying to find someone experienced that can build one for me. I looked at the kits and I can't see any way that I can build one myself. I have read in forums where some people get irritated with people like me wanted to buy one ready to go .. but unfortunately I don't have the skills to do it myself .. I do appologize to anyone who is offended by my requests. I have spoken to a couple people who say they can build me one. But they do not seem to really have a handle on the photography part .. they both seem to want to use a 9 channel controller so I can control the camera .. but neither knows how to do it. If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it.. Unfortunately budget is an issue. i am in California. dan@danpeterson.com

Thanks for the reply. I just started looking at some blogs and really appreciate the help some people give. Over the past month I have read several blogs and looked at the FAA quotes that people are putting up. There was an attorney on one of the blogs I read last month that gave some information that was contra to most of the quotes I have seen. He said that there are laws and there are guidelines and that .. again I am not exactly sure the quotes .. but he said it was not an FAA .. but another group .. started with a Cxx .. but that they did not have the authority to give fines .. as I have seen people saying? The work I might be doing would be very small .. realestate work .. which I know is neighborhood work .. which was quoted against the law .. but also noted from a helicopter guy that if you can attach a string of any kind that unit becomes a tethered machine and is now able to fly without regulation? I have searched over and over to see if anyone has been fine yet? but have not seen any blogs that someone has directly been busted? I do appreciate your advice ..and I will be checking into it as well ..
If you plan to use a Quadrarotor for commerical purposes, you will have to get the Quadrarotor certified by the FAA to be legal. Certification usually requires deep pockets and is a somewhat drawn out process. Good luck!
