minim OSD setup with Pixhawk

I have done several searches on this subject, and it seems their is some conflicting information.

Currently I have a Pixhawk running what I think is the latest firmware, and trying to set up the minim osd. When I initially connected the 3dr radio to telem 1 I did not get power so was instructed by 3dr to use telem 2..

I have added a FPV 600tvl Sony can, I do have a GoPro and tarot gimbal however at this point I will not use the GoPro through the analog feed as I will need to get a switch, and have yet to source one,( if anyone has a suggestion of one that can be controlled by radio tx and has two analog sources and very light I would appreciate it.)

Having looked at all the threads on the subject, I will need either:

1. Use telemetry that is not used (however since I did not have power on that port before I doubt it will just come alive, but it may be a thing that they both need to be plugged up to make a circuit?)

To do 1 make up a cable to go from the minimosd to the telemetry port, but from what I see I just need pin 1 power to power, pin 2 tx to the minimosd Rx and pin 6 to the blk labeled pin on the minimosd...

Or

2. Make a y cable from the radio connected telemetry 2 port, grabbing the pins 1,2, 6 and splicing them to the minimosd pins 5v power, Rx, and blk respoctivly...

Now I think the second has a better chance of working unless the firmware has changed the telemetry port power situation since the initial build

If someone can let me know which setup is preferred, Y cable vs telem port...

I assume I have to make cables regaurless, just want to do it once rather than twice if possible. Any feedback would be much appriciated

  • I dont know why you arent getting power out of Telem1. What happens when you put a multimeter on pins 1 and 6?
    • I will check the pins with the multimeter.. Have not been able to do much do to a eye injury that has put me out for the past few days of working with anything small..

  • Telemetry 1 should provide power. You should not need a Y cable to use both telemetry OSD and the 3DR radio. Mine is working fine utilizing both ports. The Y connector was an APM thing, and even on the APM I used the UART 0 port rather than a Y cable.
    • Great! Can you confirm that I am connecting correctly? If so I will make a video of the setup and upload it so that to help other that run into the same problem
