Mission Planning: Auto Takeoff Question

Hi

When Planning a mission with an auto take off, how does one set a pure "take off and rise vertically to desired altitude" command?

AT the moment I can only get the copter to take off and immediately dart off to waypoint 1. Sometimes it is not high enough before it starts moving laterally and the legs get caught in the grass.

Is there a step I am missing?

Thanks

  • Are you giving it an altitude on the TAKEOFF command?  I have forgotten to provide an altitude a few times and it either goes right to the first waypoint (scary) or wobbles on the ground / flips when legs catch something like it's not sure what altitude to ascend to.

If I explicitly specify an altitude, it seems to climb to altitude first, then proceed on mission.

  • good question. Didn't realize it would do that. Maybe at a a way point right above home to loiter first? I have not tried any of these, just a suggestion. I'm sure the experts will chime in soon.
