I'm just setting up an APM with Arduplane 2.69 in a Bixler 2.
I noticed that when switching to stabilize mode, the motor starts - on a low level, but still. Is this supposed to happen? In the parameters I only found throttle settings for FBW.

Have you done the RC calibration in the MP? If so, try it again. You may not have pushed the throttle stick entirely to the bottom when you were setting the extremes.
