I have multirotor motors from several companies and none of them seem to have any varnish over the windings. I'm not talking about the varnish covering the individual wires, I mean that the windings don't seem to be glued down with varnish or epoxy like virtually all the other motors I have seen.
I feel that if the windings are allowed to move at all (which is inevitable, given the switching currents), the wires will work-harden and eventually break.
I would coat the windings myself with thin epoxy to hold them firmly in place, but wonder if there is some reason the motor manufacturer didn't already do it. I would also think that if the proper substance was used to "pot" the individual coils, the heat-transfer would be enhanced and the motors windings would run cooler.
What am I missing?
