Motor Upgrade?

Hi All,

I think it’s time to upgrade my motors and ESC’s. I am new to the electric hobby, so when looking at new motors, and comparing them I really don’t know what to look for.

What I have now:

APC 12x3.8 Slow Flyer
TR2217/20 Turnigy 2217 20turn 860kv 22A Out runner
TP_w25A Tower Pro w25A Brush less Speed Controller

Motor distance is 51cm

I like the power the motors have, but all the work to keep them going is driving me crazy. I do understand you get what you pay for.

Last night I had one motor break in half in mid air. The prop cut into the ESC, then broke and went flying buy my head. Not fun! I did just get done rebuilding the ESC. And it works!!! J

One of them had very bad bearings. I purchased a new motor because I could not find replacements. That motor just cuts out in the air sometimes. I changed the ECS and the motor acted the same.

I would like a motor that can carry heavy loads and be reliable. It would be nice to spend time on other things, like flying it.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott

  • I think that you should weight for the ArduCopter motors to be released , the quality should be great , Jani is making a lot of testing on them ( I’ve heard )

I plan to buy some of this motors for testing, they are expensive , but the quality and efficiency should be good )
