Something that just came to mind and I haven't even thought about yet.

Does mission planner/apm read your (vehicles) altitude from the first time the gps gets a fix, from the sea level (I doubt) or from the ground level.

So let's say you take off from the top of a hill and set a mission out over a valley, if I set a waypoint (at 100mtrs altitude) which is downhill from take-off will my plane fly to 100 meters about the ground at the point or 100 meters above a horizontal line drawn out from home point?

  • Also for the verify height setting, do I need to be connected to the internet for it to work? Where does it get terrain height data from?

If it needs internet is there a way to preload data before I go to the field?

    Thanks
