MTK 339 Sleep or low power mode

Arduino microprocessor

Not using the custom binary feature

Can I power up my GPS, let it get a lock, and then put it into some kind of low power consumption mode until I need it?

What command would I send to turn it down and then back up?

I also want to change the Hz and baud rate in Arduino's setup method. I found these commands in the MTK Commands document but not the low power or sleep command(s).

Thanks!

Bob

  • You can turn off WAAS and/or SBAS to save power. I don't know if it is already done by a powersave command.

  • Of course as soon as I post, I think I've found the answer.

To go into power save mode:

    $PMTK320,1*26

To turn off power save mode:

    $PMTK320,0*26

I got these from the mtk_packet_user_manual.pdf and not off of DIYDDrones so I'm a bit skeptical. Are these commands correct?

    Thanks,

    Bob
