Having a weird issue, I hope someone can help -

First my copter is in X configuration, and the image within mission planner on the map always has the directional arrow on one of the arms, instead of in between 2 arms where "foward" actually is. I assumed the image wouldnt change, and that wherever the directional arrow is pointing, that's where my copter is pointing. not so! My copter always seems to report the wrong direction. 

I have an APM 2.6 with external mag.

-my rotation roll for the mag is set to ROTATION_ROLL_180 "compass_orient=8"

-i've completed the live calibration multiple times.

-i've checked to make sure the arrow on the mag/gps is pointing forward

-i've double checked my copter is set to X not +

I attached an image - the blue arrow i put there with my elite MS paint skills is the 'real' forward position of the copter, however mission planner shows the copter as pointing to the right (relative to the map). Mission Planner Version is 1.2.65 mav 1.0
