Need help purchasing HexaCopter parts

I have what I believe is a complete list of parts for the HexaCopter I plan on building. I have provided the link below to the spreadsheet showing the parts and vendors. I'm making this tread to make sure that I am ordering all the parts I need and that I am not missing anything.Parts List: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvwDORuPOcrOdDdFRW9UUUU1TXYzYW9ERHYzeWZMTVEI was also wondering if anyone has any idea how much weight this HexaCopter may be able to carry.

  • Austin,

The batteries on your list seem inadequate for the task. You are (potentially, at full power) using far more amps than the batteries can deliver. This is bad for the batteries, and will eventually result in them being destroyed after only a few charge cycles. You need a much higher C rating or bigger batteries (or both!)

eCalc is a nice tool for calculating these things. Here is (part of) a screenshot with your values typed in:

3692556036?profile=originalYou will probably notice, that even if your battery packs were rated 50C, your flight times are not very long.

Just over 1 minute at full power, or just over 5 minutes hovering time.

If you change to using a 4000 mAh 25C battery, eCalc shows almost 12 minutes of hover time.

How much weight it will carry: well, eCalc also shows you that. Look in the field 'add. Payload'

Oh, and: you probably won't need two LiPo alarms, as stated in your spreadsheet. You could maybe also save a little, using only one battery charger. Do you already have a power supply for the charger(s)?
