I built a new frame and put my second power system i owned so this cost me to build only 20$ because all parts were recycled from my crashes. And i have been getting bad flight times 10-13 min of just putting it into hover with no flying around.

Motors: D2830-11 1000kv Turnigy

Props: 11-4.7 Carbon

ESC's: Q Brain 4 x 20A Brushless

Battery: Multistar 4000mah 3S

Frame: Custom quad ~760mm (over sized so if the frame turned out well i could expand to a octo with 14in props)

Flight weight being ~1550g

At the time air temp was 0°C

I retested with 3300mah 4S With an additional 100g and got even less flight time but after calculations it was as expected 88% of the 4000 mah battery so nothing new there i doubt i could take off in a 6600mah 2s configuration but that will be the next attempt.

So the question is what could i do to improve flight times and what would you guys recommend for a power system?

Here is a picture of it.

Same for me with a similar setup
  • Try with two batteries in parallel, your flying time have sense for your setup, that motors aren efficient I had them in my first setup and similar flying times

    • Ya i need something more then 10$ motors on that i agree. Turnigy motors over all have been disappointing. This was the last time i bought anything without looking over other peoples results. That was over 2 years ago when this was my second power system i ever put together for a quad.

      • To enlarge your flying times without spending money you can try to lightweight your copter I measure in my first build that 100gr less=1 min added to flight time (aprox), here you can find the history of my Turnigy motors copter http://diydrones.com/forum/topics/optimizing-my-first-cuad
