I'm not sure about that backup battery idea. Have you used that before?
I'd maybe suggest using a large capacitor bank instead, like one of the ones sold by Hobby King (called voltage protectors).
Ideally if you could seperate out the camera servos to be on an independent power supply, that would be best.
