newbie question

ok it might sound silly but I finished putting together the ardustation but I have no means of testing it since I have no ftdi cable and no xbee yet, so here is my question, what we are suppose to see if we power the ardustation for the first time without any upload and no xbee connected?

    U can get a 9v battery to barrel connector from you local electronics shop or use a 2 or 3s battery
