Newbie question concerning Libraries and Firmware.

Hi,

I've been reading a lot on different forum and probably got bitten by the Arducopter ;-)

I'm planning to do this step by step. I just ordered the APM and oilpan.

Looking in to software I stumbled across this http://code.google.com/p/arducopter/wiki/Quad_LoadingPage

First of all what are libraries and what do they do. I think it's a kind of DLL that is needed to run the firmware.

The wikki mentions that de APM libraries are included in the arduino software. Are they? I'm using v 0019.

The libraries don't have to be uploaded or am I wrong.

Concerning the firmware. It is mentioned that you in in a folder "ArduCopter" within the given path of the Arduino software. In the wiki there is a lot of firmware. Is there a way to download them all at once.

What firmware has to be uploaded to the APM. All of or just the ones of the hardware installed.

Is the wiki 'the' source for the newest libraries and firmware or is there another place.

Again, sorry for the nood question but I want to do this right and learn something at the same time.

The ArduCopter libraries are in a different SVN directory. They are above and beyond the stock Arduino libraries.

If you're new to all of this, I really recommend you wait for the public release in a few weeks. The code is changing by the hour and is really just for developers now. If you're not expert at SVN, Arduino and quads, you'll find it totally confusing at this stage, and the developers have asked that non-experts please not try to use the code at this point, both because it may crash their quads and because we don't have time to offer support while we're in the final stretch of development.

The public release will be in a nice zip file that will make everything easy for you.
