I think I may have a problem with the set-up of my Witespy minim board as when the FTDI is powering the board I get no video out at all, when I also power up the 12v side I get a signal but only a blank screen and when the 12v is powered and the FTDI isn't, all works fine. I don't know if it's related but I also don't seem to be unable to upload character sets currently?

Does anyone have any suggestions please?

  • Hi Grant.  I had the same issue when using my witespy ez3.0 black with the witespy minimOSD.  I found that the input voltage to the MinimOSD board was only 4.2 volts.  This low voltage was being supplied from the flight controller.  I fixed the issue by supplying +5 to the +5 on my flight controller via a 5V UBEC.  Once I did that, the FC was supplying my minimOSD with a full 5V and everything was fat and happy.

It was deceiving because all the LEDs on the MinumOSD were lit and it looked like it was operating as it should.  Also, I did not mess with the jumper.  I ran it as it comes from witespy.  I also am not passing 12V through the board.  Just the video.

  • Done some more investigation on this and if I split the power supplies by clearing the 2 jumpers and power both sides separately, despite getting a power light on each side of the board I get no video out. Reading/Writing to the board still works and I can upload new code etc but still no luck with updating the CharSet and with no video I can't see if there are any errors etc on screen :(
