Jose mentioned(in a youtube comment) that the code used on this is now hosted on the arducopter project. Im currently using an arducopter and have ordered

Infrared Proximity Sensor Long Range - Sharp GP2Y0A02YK0F

Can someone please tell me where I can get my hands on the code?

  • Hi to everyone of the DIY drones community!

I was surfing in www and I found an interesting project that in the future I hope could fit the Ardupilot/Arducopter hardware.

Take a look in http://embeddedeye.com/profiles/blogs/turn-your-arduino-into-an and in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ah-eESVigd4.

    Bye.

We are doing different type testing with sonar and others for obstacle avoidance but currently it is not on our highest priority list. Sonar works already for altitude hold and we just got first shipment of sonar to our store. Other stores are also starting to stock those sonars shortly.

IR is a bit trickier due it needs more computing power than sonars and IR is also less sensitive. IR bean is rather narrow so it can miss a lot. Sonar then has a wider beam to detect obstacles.

But as said, team are working on it and on somepoint we should have solution or two to detect most things bigger than cat (Garfields will always be detected) ;)
