Hi guys,
Has anyone encountered such a problem before? Every once in a while when I fly my UAV, it flies with a steady state error (parallel along the designated flight path, but about 30metres away from it). It doesnt even appear to be trying to correct itself UNTIL it gets nearer and nearer to the next waypoint (altho calculated crosstrack error values are relatively large). Below shows a screenshot from the telemetry log.
On the screenshot, it shows that it is flying to the left side of the flight path. There are actually 2 flight paths side by side (to and fro flight path, return path is exactly the same). One might think that this might be caused by the wind blowing to the south east direction. But on the return trip, the aircraft flies with a steady state error, deviating to the LEFT side of the path instead! (no screenshot provided.)
Thing is.. this problem is entirely occasional. About one such encounter every 10 or more flights. Immediately after this flight. I landed the UAV and re-intialized APM and made it fly the exact same flight immediately. And now it tracks PERFECTLY.
Anyone with such encounters?

I've certainly never seen a 30 meter steady offset like that. From your description of the behavior of the offset not always being on the downwnd side it is hard to imagine what would cause this to happen.
Are these screen shots from an actual flight - flying over highways and buildings? I notice there is no comm port showing in the Planner field.
