Hope someone can shed some light on why rate gyros are used instead of head lock gyros on the oilpan sensor board?

More accurate = more $. Also, we have tried to stay away from gyros which require orthogonal (daughterboard) mounting like the analog devices units.
HH gyros are rate gyros
