I am installing an external compass and need to know if there have been any big improvements in hardware lately? I found an old magnetometer board in my parts box and need to know if it's ok to use it. I think it's a couple of years old.
This will be on an airplane with a Pixhawk.

I installed it and have about 10 flights now and it works perfect. Much lower calibration offset then the internal magnetometer. Not bad for an old APM 1 magnetometer.
