oscillating altitude during forward auto flight?

my quad (APM 3.1.5) does this oscillating altitude hunting during forward auto flights....there is no such problem on AltHold or Loiter modes thou, steady as a rock.....only does this in forward flight.....anyone got any ideas or where to start looking/troubleshooting? pic attached shows it clearly.

  • look for vibrations, they can get worse in forward flight on multicopters. Is the barometer protected from turbulance/buffeting etc?

    • yes I have the baromoter covered with dark think foam inside the APM case...will check out vibrations and see how it looks like
