Pixhawk not communicating

I'm not so familar with Pixhawk but had one already successfully setup some months ago. Now I tried to use it again for another project, downloaded latest QGroundControl (2.8.0) and updated to latest stable PX4 firmware. For me it looked like flashing has finished successfully, but after this I couldn't do any setup settings in QGroundControl - the only tabs I see on the left side are 'summary' and 'firmware'. I'm also able to flash APM stack, but behavior is similar (also tested APMPlanner).
After booting the large LED on Pixhawk is flashing red and only the PWR LEDs for FMU and IO are on. The other LEDs blinking only for a short period on startup.
The bootlog.txt shows only this:

PX4IO CRC OK ERROR: Could not load mixer: /etc/mixers/Q.main.mix

Is there anything else I can check?
I'm grateful for any help...
