I finally added a GoPro to my first fixed-wing drone this past weekend. I was excited to see how it would look like from the air when under autopilot control.

I also took this opportunity to figure out how to use some of the autopilot-specific telemetry data in some Dashware overlays. I came up with the attitude display in the bottom left - it shows not only the plane's actual roll and pitch, but what the autopilot is currently demanding as well. This is particularly neat as it gives a quick view in to how well the parameters are tuned, as well as how much the air is kicking the craft around. This was a particularly windy day!

  • What makes this very useful is the correlation with the video image. Just looking at a 2D graph doesn't give nearly as much information. Well done!
