Just like a lot of people here I'm a student and I had a couple of questions. I'll be honest I know very little on this subject, but I figured this is as good a place to start my research. I was looking at the possibility of using a phone as sort of the "brain" for an autopilot system for a helicopter.
After looking through the FAQ it seems like this doesn't seem possible, mainly the line stating you need "three gyros and three accelerometers". Most phone's don't have that. That being said, if I don't use the phone's gyro's / accelerometers having a nice 1Ghz processor to do image processing and a semi decent camera still sounds good.
Basically what I'm asking is, based on your expertise in this field, would using a modern cellphone as a brain for autopilot be feasible?
I have seen coaxial helicopters flown via cellphone, but that isn't autonomous and those copters are generally newbie friendly.
