Power Supply ... ArduPilot Mega

In the section :Connecting your RC equipmentI have read the following line :ArduPilot Mega gets its power from the RC system. But how does it do that. When I have my USB connected, the board is powered on and servos do move.Once I unplug the USB cable the board is off and nothing is happening.Thanks,Tim.

Your RC system is normally powered by an LiPo and ESC in the case of an electric aircraft or stand-alone battery in the case of gas. That's how APM should get its power in the plane, too. The USB is only for the benchtop.
