Problems with Ardupilot 2.6

Hi !

I got my ardupilot 2.6, alone, only the usb cable connected into my computer.

First time I go to TERMINAL in mission planner, I can "Connect" into it, it stays connected, and get the first screen capture.

Then things start to go berzerk and for all I can gather, the ardupilot 2.6 will stop responding me and be progressively erratic.

The second capture is when I try to download some logs from it. It just gets an error about timeout.

After that, whenever I press CONNECT, I get the third capture, and it disconnects inmediately after showing that.

I cannot get any of the other buttons to show me anything, including the one that shows the ardupilot settings... I get nothing. Ardupilot won't connect.

When I try to install firmware (it is currently using 3.0.1 Y6), Mission planner correctly detects the board, downloads the appropriate firmware from internet, and then stops throwing again an error, like in the terminal, stating that there is a timeout when trying to write thru the serial port.

This behavior happens both with USB cable and thru 433 Mhz telemetry modules.

My Y6 flew about 10 minutes, when it decided by itself to go completely nuts and fly on it's side into a tree.

This is why I am trying to download the logs. I am quite upset. I already ordered the necessary hardware parts (hopefully only a new motor and two arms) ... but now I am dreading that the problem here was a faulty ardupilot 2.6 module.

I am asking in here, in order to see if there is anyone with some advice, before getting to buy another ardupilot module.

Regards,

Enrique

  • Also I must add, that when it is "cold" (I just plugged in the ardupilot into my computer) and the terminal in mission planner lets me see the first screen capture, if I issue some of the commands, I get more options but some characters of the displayed options are garbage (like in transmission errors).

Also, when I type a command, if it is only one character, like "?" it goes ok without issues, but if I type "help", mission planner pops up a message box indicating transmission error.

And then, if I leave mission planner open with my neighbourhood map and connected into the ardupilot, which is over my desk, after 5 minutes I got it slowly "flying" around 5 blocks, in a random pattern.

It definitely seems to be broken :(

  • Just in case, YES I tried with different usb cables and different usb ports. NO, I am NOT connecting both USB and telemetry at the same time. I am using windows XP inside vmware on a MAC.

When my Ardupilot arrived, I could update firmware into Y6 configuration just fine, so this behavior is "new".
