Hi,
in Europe, the 868MHz band is dedicated for remote control and telemetry applications and it's by far not as crowded as the 433MHz band. Depending on the duty cycle, also higher TX power is possible.
As HopeRF is offering also 868MHz radios, I would like to suggest that 3DR also creates 868MHz telemetry modules.

Um, can't it be changed in software? AFAIK the 900Mhz and 433MHz 3DR radios are same in the hardware aspect, except the software is configured to transmit at different frequencies.
I am not sure though, but that's what it probably is.
