Quad H-Frame to Hex H-Frame and reversible

I have an existing Quad as H-Frame, as on picture below, the blue frame. It flies very well for me. I would like to upgrade it to a 6 motors, but able to go back to 4 motors when I need, depending of setup and payload. If I add the 2 new motors and arm (pink color), will this be able to fly?
Of course in MissionPlanner I will change the setup to a 6X. As it is visible, the new props (pink) will overlaps the existing props (blue), so I need to make sure there is some distance on vertical plan. What should be this minimal distance between props in order not to touch each other and not affect the airflow?
Another solution would be to extend the new arm to make it longer, but I don't prefer this way.
Thanks for your suggestion.

  • What about extending the center booms out further.? Possibly adding an inch or so higher then the outer booms.

  •  i have given some thought to this design. If you flip your center motor boom and invert your props, and reverse your motors they would be more like pushers rather than traction. Another thread I read here suggested 40% overlap was the max but don't think it said anything about coaxial .Should probably have a landing gear.

  • Nobody have an answer if this airframe design will fly on 6x config, please?

  • One specification, I am aware I need to change the rotation direction for existing blue, when I would add the new pink props.
