Quadcopter Build assistance

Hi guys, ive been told off by some rather cocky arrogant people on this site for asking some simple questions not too long ago!

Basically I want to build my own quad, something that if I crash I can easily repair it. Then I was told I should buy a RTF kit and bla bla bla, thought about it and no, I dont have the money to waste on buying crap! Dji is over priced and poor customer service from what ive read

Dji Phantom can go burn, such a weak piece of kit! Crash that and you're f@#*ked for a while

So basically id like some experienced members with no BS telling me what I should and shouldn't do because of their beliefs!

Heres the components for the quad I want to build, would like advice on what all I'd need If I leave anything out

  • Spidex V2 with their brushless gimbal
  • Sunnysky V2216 800KV motors maybe 900
  • Skywalker quattro 20A esc
  • Graupner 9x5 and 10x5 e-props
  • Arducopter 2.5 with GPS or Naza lite with GPS (undecided)
  • 433mhz Data telemetry
  • 3s or 4s Lipo (Can anyone advise on the better option)
  • fatshark dominator (how do I upgrade the range) (I wont start flying with fpv)

anything else? is there any one place that sells that online for convenience?

Just need advice on Rx and Tx, how many channels will I need. I always read "BAAA you need 8 or more if you want to control the gimbal"

  • Well thing is how many channels get taken up when using Naza or Arducopter 2.5? Why so many channels? Im just going to be controlling the pitch of the gimbal, since it is a 2axis gimbal will I also be controlling roll or would I have to (is it not calibrated on startup), never see anyone rolling their gimbals

Reegan, I am not sure about the issues you had but asking nicely works. I would leave the FPV gear off until you can fly.

A quad is two sticks, four motors, battery with a flight controller a very simple piece of kit.

So why not make a wooden frame like this

Get it flying and as you gather experience then decide what your FPV machine will look like.
