I’m moving all electronics from my Arducopter frame onto a F450 Flamewheel. I have JDrones 20A ESCs that have built-in BECs. The Arducopter’s PDB combines all four 5v power feeds into one and all signal wires into four single plugs that connect to my APM2.6. The Flamewheel doesn’t have this kind of PDB.

So I’m thinking of cutting the +/- wires on three of the leads, leaving only the signal wires and one 5v power feed. Anyone had any problems trying something like this?

The other option would be to connect all the leads to the APM board, but I read somewhere that multiple 5v feeds can cause problems.

Any help or advice appreciated.

  • OK, re-reading the Connecting the RC Outputs to the Motors section of the build instructions it seems that as I'm using the power module with no servos I don't need BEC power at all and these wires can be cut.
