RC TX RX Range test

Hi all

I have a bit if a daft question. How do you do a RC range test with a quad?I have read all of the WIKI and searched all the posts but come up with nothing. Which to me seems odd as Range checking should be the first safety step before flying.

I am flying a Arducopter V1.1 Kit on the 35mhz band at the moment and I have just added a Quick UK base loaded aerial which required cutting the existing aerial cable and soldering it to the new base loaded aerial. Hence the need to test.

Normally I would just have the TX Aerial down and then walk away while having someone else watch the control surfaces, but you cant really do that with a quad as it does nothing until the props are spinning and than it just speeds them up and down so you cant really see any glitching. So How does every one else do this, or is there a test mode that I can use.

  • Hi Alastair,

I was also wondering about this. I'm surprised no one has commented...

Anyhow, have you found any info about this or figured out yourself how range testing is best done?
