I suppose this has been brought up before but I think that the RTL point should be separated from the arming point.
If I start my flight, standing around by myself, there will soon be people around asking questions, etc.
I want to fly with all FS's enabled including FENCE.
I don't want my copter to come back in the midst of a bunch of people.
It looks like Mission Planner maybe has this capability, since in the Flight Planning screen, the Home Location is apparently definable but I can't be sure this can be changed during flight, or if it would have an effect on the RTL location in any case.
Any comments or advice on this subject would be appreciated.
My equipment is APM 2.6 with GPS, 3DR radio, Mission Planner - all with latest beta software.

I raised this recently and the new mission planner has the option for rally points. This allows you to set emergency points along the route and it will select the closest one. There's a video of that in action.
Although it looks like home is "settable", it is not. As soon as you arm the copter, it will set home to that location. So you should make sure to always arm the copter at the right location, not in the backyard and then move it a couple of meters.
