RTL/Loiter and ALT hold issue related to sonar?

Hi all, yes, finally i can post up a video.today i was really excited to fly the stable 2.0.38! had an awesome flight for about 45mins with various of batts.i was game enough to try RTL, Loiter and ALT hold but ended up in a crash! well RTL only but when changed modes to ALT hold and loiter, the quad would just shoot up and up so i recover with trusty stab mode.

Would this crash be related to sonar and if so is there a better fix than to just stick it out of the quad with a pole? (which i think looks ugly and is a potentially risk to totally snap off and ruin the not so cheap sonar). i currently i have it mounted just under the batt compartment.

stab mode works well! Good job jason and the crew! ps. footage is shaky during parts where the quad was stabilized very well, just poor camera mounting on my end.

Paul.

It's important to be in a stable hover when switching modes to RTL, Loiter, etc. If the throttle is too low or too high the copter will remember that throttle during the switch and try to use that to hover, which will end in either situation you describe.

It's not possible to remember an optimal throttle because the number changes all the time based on battery voltage.

  • Ah yes the logs, forgot. I'll upload them here tomorrow. As for crash yes it did hit ground and topple over however why did it even touch the ground all together? Is it not suppose to stay near same altitude to return? Did I miss a setting to tell the quad to stay a certain altitude on return?
  • anyone any idea if it could be sonar problem or maybe something else?
