SD Card OR Data Flash: APM ?

Hi Guys,

I am using APM-1. I am raising this question after I heard from Chris Anderson that SD card interfacing with APM is not possible. It may go a bit technical from here as follows:

I read that SD card interfacing is possible with bit-banging by not using SPI bus (any one has done this with APM)?

An alternative (the last resort) would be to use the inbuilt data flash logger for logging files. Can anyone tell me (how) to analyze the 'tlog' files from APM board. I mean can I view it in text/ csv myself (how to do it without using the mission planner) ??

    I forgot to mention one thing. I do not wish to use on board data logging if I intend to go with SD card interfacing with APM-1. I see that APM Data logging uses SPI, then I don't understand (at least in theory), how SD card interfacing is impossible?
