Semi-stand alone antenna tracker !

Hi,

 We are currently setting up a project to get an antenna tracker. The idea is to have GPS, aircraft telemetry on the antenna with a bluetooth interface to communicate to a laptop or tablet/phone.

 We are keen to get this into the community and we wanted to ask what option would users would like to see being incorporated into this system. Predominantly we see this as an ideal add on to survey grade UAV operations and I think the piksi RTK GPS might be perfect for this too.

 Let us know what do you think.

 Thanks

  • 1. Will this be a plug and play antenna tracker?

    2. Will this work with any current OSD in the market like my Cyclops Storm and or Tornado?

    • Hi Jun,

       The idea for the development of this tracker is

      1) to add safety to the system

      2) help in integration of RTK GPS

         Looking from the lack of response it seems that the community might not be looking for something like this. Nevertheless this is something we are developing for our system anyhow.

       if your OSD feeds into a signal that the tracker is watching, then you get the benefit of the extra range.

      • Hi Duffy,

        I am really very new at this.  I have a Taranis radio, IRC 600mw VTX, IRC Dou5800 V3 AVRX, IRC EZ Antenna Tracker, 7" Phillps Monitor, and lastly the Cyclops Storm / Tornado OSDs.

        I am using an external microphone connected to the Right audio channel of the IRC 600 mw VTX as my video cam does not have a built in microphone. I get a good picture and sound from the VTX through the Dou 5800 V3 AVRX which I can see and hear from my 7" Philips monitor. As for the EZ Antenna Tracker, it is powered by 2 - 2200 2S LiPo pack in parallel and it is connected to the 2nd port of my AVRX which uses the Right audio signal to drive the pan and tilt servos. Unfortunately the tracker does not respond whether it is plugged in either AVRX port.

        I have set up the EZ Antenna Tracker setting so that if I put it in test that the unit will do the necessary movements of panning left and right as well as up and down.

        My questions are;
        -Does anybody know why my antenna tracker does not respond?
        -Will the EZ Antenna Tracker only work with the IRC EZ OSD?
        -Can it be reflashed to work with my current hardware?

        If none of the above is applicable;
        -Will yours work?
        -What signal does your project tracker need, ie Right or Left audio signal?
        -Is there a compatible plug and play antenna tracker I can use with my Cyclops OSDs?
        • Hi Jun,

           I am sorry I can't help at all with the problems you have with your setup.

          Our tracker will work based on the telemetry modems in a similar way that the ardutracker does, but with extra safety net of RSSI using additional directional antennas.
