Sensor programing help

hey everyone I am new here and need information on programing a digital IMU in arduino for a high powered rocket system that I am working on. Any info or even just pointing me in the right direction to sources. time is tight on this project and I am trying to get all the help I can. thanks

  • Sorry guys I should have given more information in my original post. The IMU coupled with a barometric pressure sensor in a system that will predict the apogee of the rocket and if it senses that it will overshoot our goal of one mile it will activate an air-brake system. And in response to Ken's post we will not be guiding the rocket just slowing it's accent if necessary. I believe that time is critical because this is such a quick flight (around 18 seconds to apogee) but the time frame in which the air-brake system will be critical will be when the rocket is moving at it's slowest.
  • You could just start with an ArduPilot Mega with the IMU board.  The code is very GPS centric. I'm guessing you wouldn't even need the GPS.  You could fly with the gyros and altimeter.  The biggest issue with gyros is vibration creating noise. What do you do when the frequency of the vibration aligns with your readings and tells you your going left?  Rocket flight times are short so you need to think about how fast you can respond to changes. What frequency do you need to change your fight surfaces? How fast can your servos respond?  You might need to convert to DA converters and voice coils.
