Should I start with APM 2?

I was hoping to start building my 1st Arducopter Quad. I was looking at a 3DR kit on the store but none of the kits with an APM have V2. Should I wait or can I buy a Frame/motor kit and an APM 2 board. Is there some reason why there are no kits yet with APM 2?Thanks
