Upgraded both of my 915MHz radios from 1.7 to 1.8.1.
Linking the radios using MP now takes almost 1.5 minutes, with numerous messages like "Already got Parameter X". Once linked the update rate of the horizontal situation indicator lags for several seconds. Using the same settings when downgraded back to 1.7 and quick linkup with fast update rate on MP. Used MavLink and Low Latency settings with same issue on 1.8.1.
MP version: 1.2.90
APM: 2.6
3DR 915 2gen: 1.7 & 1.8.1 (both radios are running identical fw ver during each test)

An update on this: I'm still looking for the root cause, but it does have something to do with the channel ranges used. We've rolled back the 'release' version of the firmware to 1.7 in the meantime. I'll post an update once we have found the problem/fix... Thanks for your great debugging help John and Marco!
Hi John,
Thanks for your detailed report. I've reproduced the problem (but don't yet know the error other than it relates to particular MIN/MAX frequency ranges). I suspect we'll have a fix within a week.
Same problems here John.
@John,
Are your telemetry radios genuine 3DR radios or are they clones?

Also, one other thing would help figure out what is happening here. What do you have set for your mission planner streaming rates? (In config / planner)
Hi - I wrote most of these changes, but haven't managed to reproduce the problem you describe. Would you switching into terminal mode and then doing:
Pause one sec
Type +++ (with a short pause between each plus)
Pause one sec
then type AT and press return
You should see a "OK" response (if you don't try the procedure above until you do - the timing is a bit finicky)
Then type ATI5 and press return
It will print a bunch of stuff
Then type RTI5 and press return
It will print more stuff
Could you post the stuff these two commands print?
I also had major problems with v1.8.1, mostly it just wouldn't connect. I've gone back to v1.7.
Note: If anyone needs to go back to v1.7 you need to find an old Mission Planner version, I used v1.2.55 which will load v1.7 when you click "Upload firmware (local)"
Have you tried to restore the factory settings. This can be done using MP or a console connection to the port and typing the following command sequence
AT&F - Set the factory Settings
AT&W - Write those settings to EEPROM
ATZ - reboot the radio
to connect on mac I use screen /dev/cu.usbserial-XXXXXXXX 57600 use ctrl-a,ctrl-\ and pres Y to quite screen when done.
XXXXXXXX is the unique identifier for your radio on your system
Upgraded module to 1.8.1 (don't know why) :(
Now I cant connect module anymore.
I forced bootloader and loaded firmware again, but that didn't solve the issue.
Where can I download version 1.7
