Sony QX100 camera in fixed wing, control from Pixhawk

I am new in the community, I want to thank you for sharing your knowledge in the forums.
I am working to mount a Sony QX100 camera to a fixed wing, but I have not managed to remotely control the camera.
I have read many comments about the connection with this camera. Using Raspberry PI or modifying the camera, in this regard I have not found information on how to modify the camera, I understand that you have to solder some cables internally, can someone from the community help me do this? or if you know of a tutorial to modify the QX00, I will be very grateful.

  • Hi Raul

it's not that easy to give advice as your project goal,
budget and priorities all will have impact.

I can give you only an idea from what I did until I had
to pause some two years ago. Legal issues came up blocking
the way I like taking surveys.

Within this forum 3-4 years ago a lot of great discussions
took place. It will be time consuming but some basic ideas
    are still valid.

    I ended up with a used Sony NEX-5R with a Sigma 30mm f/2.8.
For my low budget this $250 was a great invest.
On my 2m plane the cam is taking about 3000 pics in an one hour
flight. Its dimension seems to be similar to the M100.

There was a discussion that indirect trigger like IR is not
precise enough for high quality geo ref. I modified the cam
to get direct access to release the shutter button. If this
is an issue for you take care or use IR for trigger the M100.

Your EOS M100 may be fine. With a prime lens you will be
around 500gr. It seems that your plane doesn't have an issue
    with that.

I don't see any other blocking point for the M100. But this
comes only from looking at the data sheet.

  • Thanks Wolfgang for the advice.
I think I will buy a Canon camera, if you know of these cameras, I am in doubt about buying a Canon EOS M100 or Canon EOS M3.
The EOS M3 has support for CHDK, but it is very heavy, while the EOS M100 weighs only 300 grams, but I think it has no support for CHDK ... or at least I think, if you can install the CHDK here would be great.
According to your experience, which camera do you recommend for Pixhawk?

    Hi Raul,

I do not own an QX100 but have a remark to it.

I see that it is limited to 1/1600s shutter speed.

From my experience on a fixed wing and the QX100 sensor resolution

you should be careful about blurred images. Before you invest a lot of

effort in the trigger be sure this will not block you later.
