Stabilization works! Autopilot issue...

Hi everyone.  I have stabilization working pretty well.  However, when I switch the ArduPilot into autopilot mode it always turns and heads in a straight line southwest until it gets far enough away that I have to bring it back manually.

I am using 25_04 and the new board and shield.  Throttle in and out is disabled in the code. Using an EM406 GPS and selected SiRF in the code. Disabled airspeed sensor in the code. Throttle is connected directly to the receiver. I am using a stock EasyStar.

Is it trying to get to the home waypoint that is very far away?  I thought I was setting the home waypoint in the ConfigTool. My blue GPS light is solid.

Am I supposed to be using a bind plug?

Thanks for your help.

  • OK. Thanks for your reply, Chris. I tried using the bind plug this afternoon. Powered up the board with the bind plug inserted, waited for the blue GPS LED to become solid, and then removed the bind plug. However, my ArduPilot is still piloting my easystar to some mysterious waypoint.

Yes, your problem is that you're not setting home properly. If ArduPilot is not controlling the throttle you have to use the bind plug at the field. The home setting in the config tool is just for planning. It doesn't really set the home.
