Although I've been monitoring this website for a couple of years, I've refrained from joining because I simply don't have much time to participate in these projects. Here's a major problem of mine which I need to overcome and the problem involves creating a stable aerial platform above the tree line for LOS communication. Basically, I'd need a UAV which could be stabilized, automatically aligned, sufficiently powerful to intercept beams of light transmitted by a Ronja system, e.g. as sold by www.fasto.cz/fso, for as long as technically feasible. With the current state of the art, is this idea even possible? Environmental factors, i.e. wind, is bound to play havoc with this idea. Can aerial platforms be sufficiently stabilized for LOS communication? I'm not discussing practicality at this point as a tower would be the most practical solution. Is this idea feasible? TIA

"Can aerial platforms be sufficiently stabilized for LOS communication?"
I would say under 20KUSD precision 5-10 degrees.
Military maybe 0.1-1degree but AT BEST 50% of the time.
Completely not suited for RONJA.
Even if blimp-based.
